Exceptional Photographer for Ballito Weddings
What was once quite an untamed, undeveloped area, Ballito Bay and the north coast of KZN (KwaZulu-Natal) Province, has today become a premier holiday and wedding destination, popular with local photographers and so-called “happy snappers” from all over the world.
Also known as the Dolphin Coast, the northern coastal region around Ballito has long been considered as a relatively affluent area, boasting numerous fine hotels and country manors which present perfect backdrops for stunning wedding photographs.
Spotting bottlenose dolphins throughout the year remains a popular pastime for locals and visitors alike. These intelligent inhabitants of the warm Indian Ocean are frequently seen in the coastal waters, appearing to frolic and play in the waves.
The north coast region begins at Zimbali in the south and extends to the Thukela River in the north and is still considered to be the heartland of the Zulu Kingdom, once ruled by the mighty King Shaka. He was known to be a clever, strategic warrior and fierce ruler, who adored his mother. His regard for his mother was said to be so great that anyone approaching her was compelled to crawl on their belly, lest she (or he) be offended. When she died, Shaka went into a period of deep mourning, rigorously enforcing numerous restrictions on his people, as a mark of respect.
At an area known as Shaka’s Rock, a steep rocky headland protrudes high over the ocean and it is here that King Shaka was said to have cast his condemned enemies into the sea below and to their deaths. He is reputed to also have tested the bravery, courage and loyalty of his Impi (warriors) by daring them to jump to their deaths from these lofty heights.
Salt Rock, one of the north coast’s small towns, was once Shaka’s home and a short distance further inland, his gravesite at KwaDukuza, near the town of Stanger, a memorial is built on the site of his grave. The region is rich in history and cultures, offering numerous heritage sites.
If pristine, endless sandy beaches, breathtaking scenery, cultural diversity and warm, hospitable people are important to you when selecting your ideal wedding and photography location, make sure that you don’t forget about Ballito By and Eloise, owner of Eloise Photography. The combination of natural beauty and a talented photographer can only mean great things for your wedding!
